Needle Felted Mask

"Entangled In Thought"
is the name of this large needle felted mask that hangs on the wall.
It is made from NZ hand dyed corridale wool. The spirals have a little merino incorporated into them.
This work is currently on exhibition at the NZ Creative Fibre Exhibition in Timaru at the Aigantighe Art Gallery

  2. Thank you.
It does take me quite a long time to make my figures, sometimes weeks.
With the large needle felted masks it takes about six weeks and sometimes longer especially if I am having trouble getting it right.

  6. Jill,
I love your work - fantastic detail. Do you needle felt then use the flat felts to create and sew the clothing? Very inspirational! Thanks so much,

  8. You are all very kind with your comments.
Laura has asked if I use flat felt to make the clothes and yes that is right. I love to be able to make my own felt fabric as it gives me so much choice to combine pattern, colour and texture.
